The DSNP Marketing and Sales Director oversees the development of market strategies to support multiple products and drive membership and sales growth. This position also directs the community relations and member outreach activities of the health plan. This position is responsible for developing market strategies to support products and drive membership growth. This position develops strategies and tactical plans to support consumer/member innovation, support new product and program launches, and maintain community presence and relationships. The Marketing and Sales Director may also analyze economic considerations, develop marketing forecasts, estimate costs and manage program/project budgets.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops short and long-term strategic directions, and plans campaigns and programs to meet sales goals; periodically reviews department performance against established sales goals
  • Collaborates on development of short and long-term outreach strategies
  • Ensures compliance with state and municipal laws, rules, and guidelines for marketing and outreach
  • Directs outreach planning, which includes an analysis of competitive products and outreach techniques, consumer research, marketing legislation, outreach budget and goals
  • Collaborates with local and regional sales/distribution to develop sales and retention pursuit plans
  • Identifies and coordinates activities/services that promote prospect attendance and participation
  • Identifies and coordinates activities/services that promote member attendance and participation
  • Identifies and coordinates activities/services that promote retention and assist with market penetration and growth
  • Develops and implements group member educational programs and classes that focus on prevention, health behavior modification and disease management
  • Develops education materials which address the cultural and educational diversity of membership
  • Ensures that members are aware of their rights and responsibilities and the complaint and grievance process

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Proven management skills, organizational planning, budgeting, goal setting and achievement measurement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis capabilities
  • Analytical thinking and positive problem resolutions
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards target population
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Medicare and how it coordinates with Medicaid

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of successful experience in Medicare marketing and/or sales
  • Experience selling Medicare Advantage Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D - SNPs)
  • 5+ years of marketing, sales and/or community outreach management experience
  • 5+ years sales management experience or Senior Sales / Team Lead experience in managed care industry with demonstrated management track record 
  • Active State life & health insurance license or willing to obtain within 90 days upon hire
  • Have valid driver’s license and insured, reliable vehicle
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Have established professional relationships with local / community contacts

  • Market analysis and budget skills

  • Strategic planning and project management skills

  • Experience with Direct Member / Provider Engagement

  • Strong ability and experience analyzing data

  • Public speaking skills and the ability to facilitate large groups

  • Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity - can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty in a manner consistent with our core values
