Marketing Specialist I - OptumCare Medical Group - Irvine, CA

The Marketing Specialist I–for OptumCare Medical Group in Southern California is a Part Time position that will be involved in the development and presentation of marketing and promotional materials/programs and new products intended to support membership growth and retention. 
 
The role will also support developing market strategies to drive membership, develop strategies and tactical plans to support patient/member innovation, support new product and program launches, and combat competitive pressures. The position could analyze economic considerations, develop marketing forecasts, estimate costs, and manage program/project budgets.
 
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Analyze customer behavior to drive understanding of current and future customer and market needs
  • Analyze member/customer data to identify and analyze customer/market trends, themes, issues (e.g., call center data, customer survey data, functional health checks)
  • Demonstrate understanding of applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, Healthcare Reform/PPACA, state contracts, CMS)
  • Implement long- and short-term marketing strategies/goals in alignment with applicable business goals (e.g., revenue goals, membership goals, conversion metrics, campaign budgets)
  • Influence/advocate new marketing strategies/initiatives in order to drive behavior change and meet business goals
  • Implement marketing campaign tactics (e.g., project plans, budgets, and community activities)
  • Ensure that marketing initiatives/campaigns adhere to applicable processes/procedures/requirements (e.g., spending limits, review/approval processes, branding)
  • Ensure that marketing efforts target applicable internal and external audiences/constituencies, in alignment with business goals (e.g., customers, members, brokers/consultants)
  • Analyze/report results of marketing campaigns using applicable metrics (e.g., response frequency) and develop/manage strategies/plans to optimize future performance
  • Assist in the revision of plans for future initiatives/campaigns based on analysis of results/outcomes from previous initiatives/campaigns (e.g., budgetary requirements)
  • Cultivate relationships with business partners to drive support, understanding and collaboration on our marketing efforts (e.g., Sales, Product Management, Legal/Compliance, Creative Services, Operations)
  • Gain alignment/commitment with business leaders on marketing strategies/initiatives (e.g., development and execution of marketing campaigns)
  • Develop and deliver marketing materials for use by applicable audiences (e.g., sales training/education efforts, marketing outreach efforts, marketing events/trade shows)
  • Develop and incorporate knowledge of health literacy practices into marketing communications/materials, as applicable (e.g., "Just Plain Clear" Health Literacy Initiative)

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 4+ years of marketing experience within a matrix organization
  • 2+ years of Community Outreach field experience
  • Experience with Medicare and/or Medicaid
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, & Excel)
  • 4+ years’ experience in a deadline driven environment
  • 4+ years’ experience managing and prioritizing several deliverables
  • Proven experience influencing and collaborating with others
  • Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Must have a dependable vehicle and current Driver's License
  • Must be able to travel approximately 25-50% regionally and work evenings & weekends, when required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) Marketing rules and regulations
  • Bilingual fluency with English and Spanish is a plus
