Operate engines, boilers and auxilary equipment
Read gauges, meters and charts to track boiler operations
Monitor boiler water, chemical and fuel levels
Activate valves to change the amount of water, air and fuel in boilers
Inspect equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently
Check safety devices routinely
Record data and keep logs of operation, maintenance and safety activity
Construction and facilities maintenance courses a plus with shop math, able to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics
Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair machinery, systems, controls from drawings, sketches, verbal or written instructions.
Works on a continuous basis in routine repairs and service as well as emergency situations. Ensures proper tools, materials and spare parts are available to complete the job.
Understands job assignments. Able to diagnose problems quickly. Ability to repair or service unfamiliar equipment and/or systems and controls. Ability to use test equipment that is trade-related in diagnosing problems.
Ability to travel between buildings to complete preventative and corrective maintenance at various sites.
- High school diploma or GED required - vocational/technical graduate preferred.
- Construction and facilities maintenance courses a plus with shop math, able to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics
Two years experience as a general building maintenance mechanic in steam fitting, plumbing, mechanical work with basic knowledge of electricity.
