In this UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement (M&R) Information Architect role, you will be responsible for defining the strategy around how M&R data will be organized, stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and applications.  You will develop a standard common business vocabulary, express strategic data requirements, outline high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and finally align M&R’s data strategy with enterprise data strategies where appropriate.  The M&R Information Architect is expected to become the subject matter expert on assessing data needs across the M&R enterprise and assist programs with defining their data requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a Data Strategy for M&R that aligns with any enterprise data strategies while also allowing for any M&R specific deviations to that strategy
  • Organize data at a macro level (i.e. create level 1-3 data domains) across M&R’s capability domains
  • Define and implement a strategy for enterprise data and the implementation of data management tools (e.g. master data management, reference data management)
  • Develop a reporting and analytics usage strategy for M&R’s data warehouses and advanced data analytical data stores
  • Inventory data sources identifying data redundancy, sources of truth and sources of reference
  • Interact with business architects to understand data challenges and technical architects to remediate this challenges
  • Become the subject matter expert on data content, data quality, current and future uses of data, and data integration between core systems
  • Assess the quality of data across data sources and develop a strategy for stream-lining and centralizing data quality routines
  • Develop specific metrics for quality and consistency reviews of data across systems
  • Draw conclusions and effectively communicate findings with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Assist with analyzing and developing data related business requirements for key programs across M&R
  • Evaluate data pain points across business domains and relate them to business challenges
  • Lead data improvement initiatives as both a program sponsor and technical lead when needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of data reporting and analytics experience
  • Master data management experience
  • Track record of success leveraging data management principles to solve business problems
  • 5+ years of software development experience including full life-cycle activities
  • Proven data modeling skills and technology background
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • History of keeping senior stakeholders informed through the lifecycle of initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Healthcare insurance industry experience
  • Experience with M&R insurance
