Position Summary

Utilize clinical skills in a collaborative process to identify and coordinate services to facilitate appropriate healthcare outcomes for Specialty patients. Conduct initial patient assessments, reassessments and other clinical services to ensure quality patient care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in individualized clinical screening assessments of patients disease and therapy which is reviewed by the Pharmacist or Registered Nurse
  • Obtain and maintain Ohio Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration for purposes of assisting the pharmacist in the packaging and fullfillment of prescriptions.
  • Assist internal and external customers with clinical questions and training
  • Assist patients with side effect management
  • Perform injection training with patients
  • Maintain competency in area of practice by attending seminars, obtaining continuing education credits and successfully completing all clinically generated disease state overviews
  • Model excellent patient care by respecting, engaging and enthusiastically meeting or exceeding all patient needs with clinical services
  • Answer telephone in a polite and timely manner and ensure accurate information is exchanged and customer is satisfied
  • Assist in the execution of all Specialty initiatives and programs
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment to ensure Company and government requirements are met
  • Assist team members with tasks to ensure department runs efficiently
  • Review all appropriate service and business metrics and assist team on action plans to improve outcome
  • Actively participate in quality improvements activities
  • Continuously build professional rapport with outside partners including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, drug reps and vendors
  • Adhere to all company, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate supplies to administer medications
  • Identify and document clinical interventions which include identifying potential cost savings through inappropriate utilization, dosing or duration of therapy
  • Complete and maintain all required patient documentation according to policy
  • Provide drug and disease state training to other team members as needed

Education and Training Required

  • Associates Degree Practical Nursing

Experience Required

  • 1 to 3 years

Experience Desired

  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred
  • Knowledge of specialty medications and their administration
  • Clinical practice experience (e.g. hospital setting, alternative care setting such as home health or ambulatory care)

Age Requirement
