The Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.


  • Monitor room temperature between 20 degrees and 24 degrees C (68 degrees and 75.2 degrees F) and reports variances, relative humidity between 20% and 60% and reports variances, monitor and maintain laminar airflow
  • Assists with draping the patient, ensuring protection of eyes and minimizing pressure to body parts
  • Properly processes items for immediate use sterilization per policy
  • Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators and open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique
  • Maintains OR supply inventory and linen
  • Places specimens in appropriate container for transport


  • High school graduate or equivalency required.
  • Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
