Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on four key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk, market risk, and model risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Wells Fargo Corporate Risk Organization is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Consultant 4 for the Model Risk Management Governance Team within Corporate Risk. This individual will be responsible for leading model risk management projects and processes across the Wells Fargo Enterprise.

Key duties and responsibilities of this position include but not limited to :

  • Lead, schedule and manage activities to execute on the Model Risk Policy and processes with aligned business teams
  • Review business activities and provide effective challenge to help business teams identify potential gaps in controls and monitoring activities vs the model risk policies and prioritize proposed risk mitigation activities for addressing priority business process gaps
  • Facilitate working sessions with business teams; engage SMEs and process activity owners as needed to document and validate business process objectives, process maps, risks, controls, monitoring activities, and remediation opportunities
  • Responsible for updating certain sections of Model Risk Policy, Standards and Procedures and driving implementation across the enterprise
  • Periodic reporting and day-to-day activities related to Model Risk findings/issues and limitations
  • Documentation of internal CMoR procedures
  • Assist with special assignments where model risk management presence is required

Preferred Locations: Charlotte, NC or other WFC office locations

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Prior experience assessing risk within policies, processes, and procedures
  • Prior experience facilitating and presenting to multiple levels of employees and management and business partners
  • Experience in reviewing proposed process change requests and correctly identifying the regulatory, financial, legal, operational, and reputational risks associated with that change
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem solving techniques
  • Ability to manage complex data and reporting projects requiring coordination of resources at different levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
