The primary goal of the Key Account Representative is to learn the business functions and to acquire the requisite skills that will be needed to perform in the position of Key Account Specialist.  Specific Representative tasks are as follows:
  1. Assist Key Account Manager in achieving Fair Count and Revenue Goals by:
  2. Helping to plan and execute High Revenue Book Fair events to optimize both revenue and customer satisfaction goals. (i.e.; Pre-Fair Visits, Volunteer Training, Directed setups and tear down, Family Event Prep, Teacher Preview, Mid-Fair and Post-Fair Visits).
  3. Building additional event count with second or third Fair bookings.
  4. Work to establish and implement Communication Program in accordance with Key Account guidelines in an effort to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with School Principal, Media Specialist, Teachers, BFC, and parent volunteers.  Listen patiently and carefully to customers by demonstrating genuine interest in their ability to be successful.
  5. Provide support in scheduling, coordinating, and conducting Key Account Workshops, Webinars, and remote warehouse events.
  6. Develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in our product (book knowledge), merchandising, and services in order to offer each customer the best guidance on conducting better events.
  7. Master the art of Book Talking.  Communicate the concept of the Book Talk in schools and encourage and help facilitate implementation.
  8. Develop a knowledge of the Literary Legacy book gifting program and other Scholastic Book Fair programs, and help communicate and implement these programs as required.
  9. Operate Point of Sale equipment and  train BFC and committee members in the use of Easy Scan Equipment. Ensure proper handling of customer financial information. Follow proper procedures in the use of coupons, special offers, etc where applicable.  Maintain accurate financial records in the collection of sales receipts.
  10. Responsible for merchandising of Book Fair products as needed.  Ensure that product is organized, displayed, and merchandised according to schematic and restocked in accordance with Key Account guidelines.
  11. Assist customer in preparing restock\paid-orders in accordance with Key Account guidelines and follow-up to ensure that all paid-orders are delivered to customer as promptly as possible.
  12. Develop proficiency in the use of QR Codes and other technology products available to market and merchandise Book Fair products and services.
  13. Develop proficiency in marketing and selling Storia\e-book products, and knowledge of the Storia\e-Book product line.
  14. Maintain accurate and up to date sales/ service records of all activity in the Customer Relationship Management software.
  15. Assist Key Account Manager in prospecting and booking new customers.
  16. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with event schedule.

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, Bachelor degree is preferred.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in merchandising, retail or district/ territory sales, event management, personal selling, or customer service is preferred. Demonstrated customer orientation.
  3. Proficiency with MS Office software including Word, Excel, and Power Point.  Ability to use appropriate technology for position (i.e. handheld computer, phone). Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills - with peers, superiors and customers.
  4. Knowledge of children's literature very desirable, and familiarization with Book Fairs, and school activities helpful.
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  6. Ability to read and comprehend instructions (either written or oral), correspondence, and memos.
  7. Strong time management and organizational skills.
  8. Professional business attire and appearance.
  9. Current and valid driver's license with good driving record required.  Must have reliable transportation.
  10. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull cases up to 300 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  11. Able to manage a flexible work schedule.  Must be able to work 35-40 hours per week.  Ability to work approved overtime when required (any overtime must be approved by supervisor).  Evening hours as needed. Possible overnight travel, depending on business needs.
