The Pharmacy Technician IV will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients.  The Pharmacy Technician IV will demonstrate expertise in unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixing, inventory control, record keeping, billing and the use of equipment and automated technology.  Additional responsibilities include special projects as assigned by managers; performing technical duties related to the selection, orientation, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of pharmacy technicians; assisting in the development and revision of procedures; and participating in department goal planning/quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities   

  • Responsible for assisting in the supervision of pharmacy technician staff
  • Oversees technician training and development including identification and correction of deficiencies
  • Reviews technician workload and adjusts/communicates assignments
  • Participates in interview process for new hires
  • Assists or performs technician evaluations
  • Reviews and assists with establishment and implementation of operational policy changes affecting technician staff
  • Maintains efficient work operations and resolves problems to ensure optimal performance
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in an effort to continually improve quality and safety. Supervise monitoring of regulatory compliance (quality assurance, safety, USP 797 standards, etc.)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication division, decimals, and fractions
