The primary focus of the Principal Architect will be to advise, consult, and apply advanced subject matter expertise to help solve complex business and technology issues for federal health clients. The Principal Architect will build and implement digital transformation roadmaps for OptumServe and our clients. They will drive innovation by frequently contributing to the development of new technology solutions and methods, and operationalize them as new, industry leading approaches to solve complex business problems

We partner with the Departments of Health and Human Services, Defense, Veterans Affairs and other Federal agencies to modernize the U.S. health system and improve the health and well-being of Americans.

 

Primary Responsibilities:  
  • Primary responsibilities include building and implementing business transformation roadmaps through direct engagement and relationship building with federal health clients
  • Work closely with senior leadership to identify opportunities to accelerate client business transformations and associated business outcomes
  • In addition, will collaborate with OptumServe delivery to ensure transformation services meet or exceed senior client expectations meeting the business objectives

 

 


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of overall technical architecture experience or digital transformation consulting experience

  • Previous experience designing Technology Road Maps and technical solutions

  • Demonstrated success with complex, multi-year transformational Programs

  • Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with C level Federal Executives to achieve results

  • Demonstrated experience of working collaboratively with Sales, Transformation and Delivery team members

  • Digitally literate and capable of effectively engaging with technical staff, suppliers and stakeholders to define the best approach to service design to achieve business/user objectives

  • Demonstrated flexibility and strength in managing multiple programs simultaneously

  • Detailed technical expertise is not essential, but the ability to manage developers and ask the right questions is a minimum requirement           

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the digital marketplace and client business drivers and challenges, and developing engagement strategies for all levels of the business

  • Experience in creating new, innovative value propositions for client opportunities & insight and experience to validate & qualify opportunities for OptumServe

  • Advisory experience of setting up and running Digital Transformation Programs

  • Extensive combined leadership, support, and delivery experience in the majority of the areas including Sales, Solution development, and Business development; Technical design/development and delivery in Digital Services

  • Proven track record of early engagement customer interaction, driving innovation and building successful customer relationships

  • Experience in assessing client's current IT operations for efficiency gaps and potential cost savings via the implementation of Digital Services and transformation

  • Demonstrated orchestration/development of a compelling business case detailing associated cost reductions, benefits, TCO and ROI in alignment with client requirements

  • Strong strategic & operational leadership, change management, planning and analytical skills with proven experience in orchestrating change

  • Strong background and expertise in Driving Innovation, Solution Design and forward technology Thinking

  • Knowledge of Digital Technologies and federal agency experience

  • Experience of developing technology transformation strategies and managing the delivery of associated technical services

  • Extra business acumen, technology, interpersonal skills, and experience serving as a trusted advisor to C level executives in the federal space

  • Thorough knowledge of portfolio and technology and translation of specific transformation challenges within a specific industry

  • Experience in a variety of Transformation methodologies including Waterfall and Agile

  • Facilitation skills at the C-level

  • Proficiency in White-boarding techniques and frameworks
