Principal Data Analyst – Indianapolis, IN or Telecommute

This position will be responsible for defining, implementing and enabling advanced analytics solutions and capabilities as a key member of our analytics team.  Along with data analysis and data engineering, this position will be modeling complex business problems and discovering insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques.  Position will be focused on modernizing the Data and Analytics program by maturing our operating model, governance, data quality, data models, technology selection and coordination with external partners and data architect to generate our data strategy roadmap.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Thought leader with strong analytic, communication, and program management skills to lead development and integration of a portfolio of analytics that will form the intelligent engine of visually displayed insight to help decision makers uncover business opportunities
  • Lead, develop, evaluate and present new techniques and methodologies to drive business results
  • Design sampling methodology, prepare data, including data cleaning, univariate analysis, missing value imputation, etc., identify appropriate analytic and statistical methodology, develop predictive models and document process and results
  • Provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of analytic applications and recommend ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that lead to findings, including new information
  • Communicate and present findings, orally and visually in a way that can be easily understood by business counterparts
  • Collaborate with analytics and other teams to determine how current processing methods can be optimized, scaled, and improved
  • Drive thought leadership to embrace modern data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and data analytics as the driving factor behind all business decisions
  • Construct data pipelines to satisfy downstream modelling needs
  • Provide informed feedback for database design and data model decisions
  • Translate customer needs into high quality system solutions and ensures effective operational outcomes
  • Design rich data visualizations to communicate complex ideas to customers and company leaders
  • Extend internal data with third party sources of information
  • Ensure non-functional requirements are considered as part of solutions (e.g. reliability, availability, security usability)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Statistics; or minimum 8-10 years of database experience, such as MS SQL or Oracle
  • Advanced database skills in SQL including queries, database design, and performance improvements
  • Highly evolved problem-solving skills and adept at understanding and resolving unstructured problems
  • 5+ years of experience with data management and analytics
  • 5+ years of experience with ETL Talend &/or SSIS
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend innovative BI solutions to support complex business requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend innovative Predictive Modeling
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Visualization
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Warehouse Design and Construction (Data Lake experience a plus)
  • 3+ years of experience with Master Data Management
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Governance and Data Stewardship
  • 3+ years of experience with Self-Service Analytics
