Description

The Product Development Professional 2 discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements to existing products or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. The Product Development Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

The Product Development Professional 2 leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Develops design briefs for new product ideas, including specifications, sketches and/or models to present a clear, focused concept for strategic consideration. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

               

The Product Development Professional 2:

  • Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace.
  • Develops design briefs for new product ideas, including specifications that create a focused concept for strategic consideration.
  • Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.
  • Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.
  • Builds and manages relationships with key business partners from varies areas, including Finance, MarketPoint, Actuarial and Market Leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Medicare or healthcare experience
  • Prior experience working across multiple business groups
  • Experience managing small to medium projects
  • Strong attention to detail, timeliness
  • Ability to work independently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Humana's operating systems
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
