Product Manager, Market Segments-UMR - Wausau, WI

This role is far more than a traditional Product Manager position.  You will be the TPA subject matter expert in support of sales and account management in the pursuit of growing various market segment membership for UMR. This position will further champion the support and development of service offerings for the UMR various market segments and work side by side with sales and account mgt to provide solutions to our customers. The market segment group focuses on providing claim administration and many other value-added TPA service offerings to clients that self-fund the health benefit programs provided to their employees.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes on business plans and strategies to profitably grow UMR membership

  • Interacts directly with customer senior management and consultants and works with them to design programs to effectively meet their needs in coordination with sales and account management

  • Maintains strong working relationships with sales, network services, account management, product & services, pricing analysts, care management, Optum, brokers, consultants and other outside parties to effectively support and develop market segments in coordination with sales and account management

  • Through direct interaction with senior management of customers, brokers, consultants and vendors builds relationships and negotiating contracts and agreements

  • Develop and present stewardship information to customers, brokers and consultants and effectively answer their questions in coordination with sales and account management

  • Present information to prospective customers and effectively answer their questions in coordination with sales and account management

  • Reviews and writes responses to RFP questions from customers and prospects in coordination with business development group

  • Proactively coordinates with sales and other areas on developing programs to effectively meet the needs of customers

  • Responsible for  market segment enhancements and rollouts

  • Responsible for developing and executing on business plan and strategies to profitably grow the  market segments

  • Keeps up to date on competitive and market conditions and proactively reacts to changes and opportunities in the marketplace

  • Responsible for professional development through attendance at industry events or other development activities

  • Coordinates activities with all parts of the organization and monitors organizational change and makes appropriate modifications to customer offerings


Required Qualifications:

  • Occasional travel as required

  • 5+ years of Product Management/ Product development experience

  • 3+ years of Proficiency with MS Office applications

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a matrix environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others

  • Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Product Management/Development within health insurance required; with TPA products highly valued

  • Knowledge of, or previous experience working with a sales team to help drive growth

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prior UMR experience
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Advance Degree
  • Previous management experience
