May work with internal or external business constituents to determine product future direction or respond to product inquiries. May be project-based and involve working within multiple product functions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing Market Characteristics and Needs:
    • Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to obtain appropriate market information/data (e.g., marketing, sales, health plan partners, channels, shared services)
    • Gather/analyze/validate applicable data from internal and external sources (e.g., clients, prospects, potential customers) to identify market characteristics/ -needs/problems (e.g., market opportunities, financials, technology trends, user preferences, industry/regulatory/legal standards, internal product trends)
    • Demonstrate understanding of the competitive landscape (e.g., strengths, weaknesses, gaps, product portfolios, win/loss analysis)
    • Define the core competencies/capabilities that distinguish us in the marketplace (e.g., key differentiators)
    • Document/communicate market problems and characteristics and needs to applicable stakeholders
  • Defining and Supporting  Product Strategy:
    • Perform appropriate analyses to help drive product strategies (e.g., SWOT analysis, competitive positioning map, key buying criteria, portfolio analysis, certificate of coverage analysis)
    • Define market segments to pursue, based on market analyses and applicable business criteria (e.g., business strategies)
    • Define product vision, portfolio and roadmaps (e.g., positioning statement, problem definition, proposed solutions)
    • Develop value propositions for applicable audiences to drive product planning and implementation (e.g., customers, members, employers)
    • Ensure that product strategies address applicable market expectations (e.g., customers, consumers, providers, external business partners)
    • Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to obtain input and buy-in to product strategies (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Health Plan partners, sales channels, Shared Services, Operations)
    • Determine whether the organization has or can obtain the capabilities to address market needs and
  • Developing Business and Product Plans:
    • Define business plans to drive product planning efforts, and prioritize as necessary (e.g., ROI, potential risks, financials)
    • Ensure alignment/linkage between business and product plans with product strategies
    • Collaborate with functional support partners and other applicable stakeholders to design solutions, and ensure alignment with business and product plans (e.g., capital/funding commitments, revenue commitments, capabilities, functional impacts, cross- functional roles)
    • Develop applicable pricing plans (e.g., models, schedules guidelines, procedures, intersegment markups) and obtain required approvals (e.g., pricing reviews)
    • Define user/buyer characteristics to drive product planning efforts (e.g., personas, archetypes)
    • Define business requirements that address market/product problems/needs (e.g., technology, operations, staffing)
    • Develop use scenarios to illustrate user/market requirements (e.g., storyboards, user stories, competitive intelligence, user/broker/consultant focus groups, market data, audits)
    • Perform applicable financial analyses to drive product planning efforts (e.g., cost/benefit analysis, revenue potential/forecasts, budgets, membership/volume forecasts)
    • Establish status dashboards to drive program/product management processes/reviews (e.g., key metrics, schedules, checkpoints)
    • Identify and communicate client goals/needs as input to product planning efforts
  • Implementing  Product Programs/Release:
    • Develop/deliver/ensure product training/education for applicable internal and external audiences (e.g., sales team, health plans, brokers, vendors), collaborating with appropriate stakeholders as needed (e.g., training staff, sales leadership, subject matter experts)
    • Adhere to or champion use of applicable product development guidelines/procedures (e.g., Product Development Methodology, Product Development and Release, Product Lifecycle Management)
    • Develop/oversee plans for generating awareness of product programs (e.g., marketing plans, lead generation)
    • Identify and mitigate applicable risks associated with product implementation (e.g., regulatory concerns)
    • Ensure development of the capabilities needed to meet product strategies and plans (e.g., technology, operational services, consulting, capacity management)
    • Develop/manage/oversee project plans to drive implementation of product programs
    • Develop required product collateral, in collaboration with applicable business partners (e.g., Marketing, Clinical, Legal, Regulatory)
    • Ensure that project documentation is current and communicated to applicable stakeholders (e.g., project plans, IRAADs, project tools)
    • Ensure that identified issues/problems are addressed prior to product launch (e.g., monitor product testing activities as required)
    • Ensure readiness of all internal and external functional business partners to ensure a successful product launch
  • Managing Products and Programs:
    • Monitor and evaluate product performance on an ongoing basis, using applicable performance metrics (e.g., ROI, P&Ls, operational metrics, win/loss analysis, growth analysis, channel performance), and recommend appropriate action (e.g., revisions, sunsetting)
    • Terminate/sunset products as appropriate, based on profitability, customer requirements, operational requirements and service specifications
    • Provide marketing/sales staff with the support/resources required to enable the sales process (e.g. presentation templates, sales collateral, partnering on sales presentation, issue resolution, event support)
    • Collaborate with functional stakeholders to ensure appropriate resolution of identified problems/issues
    • Manage client-specific requests, as needed (e.g., exceptions, customizations)
    • Provide consulting on proposed product customizations, based on specific customer or market requirements and evolving business needs
    • Provide product support/monitoring to address ongoing questions and known issues (e.g., product patch strategies)

Required Qualifications:

·         Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

·         5 years previous experience managing and developing digital consumer products

·         Digital health industry knowledge

Preferred qualification:

·         Experience working using an Agile product development methodology

·         Experience managing and developing multimodal consumer products

·         Experience with Pegasystems and/or SalesForce automation
