We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and help create, execute, and deliver on our mission to improve access to care.
The RN will work in the Alief neighborhood in Houston. The RN participates in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care at the appropriate skill level including duties within their scope of practice as delegated by the clinic’s providers while being a leader within the larger clinic’s team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care for nurse visits in the ambulatory care setting per clinic staffing models. Document all patient interactions in a timely manner within the medical record.
  •  Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care for telephone triage in the ambulatory care setting per clinic staffing models.
  • Oversight of back office support personnel and their day to day goals of optimizing provider workflow and provision of great Outpatient Medical Care. 
  • Actively leads clinic in absence of Practice Manager (PM) and functions as a leader by supporting patient centered culture and positive team dynamics as fundamental portion of role.
  • Responsible for Medication Refill Management as an agent of the provider using approved nursing protocols.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, mid - level practitioners, and company standards and policies.
  • Potentially leads patient visits based on approved protocols for disease management (e.g., insulin titration, Coumadin management, TX Healthy Steps etc.)
  • Participate in the training of new employees, to include completion of orientation checklists, and assists with competency training.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance related to laboratory QC management, Vaccines for Children (VFC), CLIA waived testing.
  • Provides input to organizational quality initiatives, completes continuing education, and participates in staff education.
  • Maintains awareness and compliance with relevant organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA, Medicare Fraud Waste & Abuse).
  • Perform all other job related duties in the clinic, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Current, active unrestricted RN license in the state of Texas
  • Associated education of ADN, BSN, or MSN Level
  • Current CPR certification or willing to obtain within 30 days
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • English speaking and Bilingual in any of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, African, Arabic, or Hindu languages
  • This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor’s diagnosis of disease absence

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of related RN clinical experience, preferably in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
  • Prior experience providing max licensure level of care to low income populations
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for improving the patient experience
  • Experience working in a primary care group practice  Integrated care clinic model experience helpful
  • Familiarity with Vaccines for Children program
  • Willing to participate in community events
  • Bilingual in English and Vietnamese
  • Previous experience with retail or customer service focused role
