POSITION TITLE: Senior Accountant Revenue -- Restaurant Accounting

 

REPORTS TO: Director -- Restaurant Accounting and Accounts Payable

 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To contribute to the achievement of company and department goals through the compilation and analysis of the financial statements. Compliance to all accounting policies and procedures is expected.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Train accountants on company's Accounting Policies & Procedures and review accountants work each period to ensure they are in compliance.
  2. Manage staff accountants to ensure all sales and cash reconciliations deadlines are met and all reconciling issues are followed up on in a timely manner.
  3. Review and Prepare Balance Sheet and Bank Reconciliations each period to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  4. Review the Profit and Loss Sales Revenue and Cash Over/Short accounts with accountants and post correcting journal entries each period to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  5. Lead Revenue Restaurant Accounting team toward a strong commitment to customer service and personal development.
 

 

  1. Ensure accurate and timely communication from the Accountants to Operations on all cash issues
  2. Act as liaison and primary and critical Accounting contract for the Help Desk, IT, Treasury, all depository banks, Vantif and armored carrier services for any changes in process or issues concerning cash, credit cards or gift card settlements
  3. Assist Region FP &A with preparation and review of annual AOP.
  4. Set an example by maintaining an excellent working knowledge and a high level of proficiency in the performance of all processes of accounting.
  5. Takes initiative to learn areas outside their normal job responsibilities.
  6. Handles unusual accounting transactions with little or no supervision.
  7. Has a solid working knowledge of the various system applications and how they are integrated.
  8. Demonstrates an ownership mentality.
  9. Recommends solutions when confronted with opportunities.
  10. Review staff comments on all closing schedules to verify all variance exceptions have been identified and researched.

 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  • CPA preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION:

  • 2-4 years minimum staff accountant experience.
  • Multi-unit retail experience preferred.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills with great attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES: Ability to work in Oracle.

 

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: This position has no decision making authority.

 

DIRECT REPORTS: This position has 3-5 direct reports.
