We are seeking a Senior Applications Development Consultant - Big Data for our Minnetonka, MN location responsible for performing all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, and code development and testing. Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders; designing reusable Java components, frameworks and libraries; and working very closely with our architecture group and driving technical solutions. Core responsibilities of this role include: Design, develop, test and architect innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business and interact with business partners and key contacts; Use big data technologies and Optum Data Fabric Framework to build large scale enterprise Data lake platform, enrich and transform data and do data analytics and machine learning; Development and execute of Apache spark, MapReduce, and Apache Apex applications using Java and Python design patterns; Processing of real-time streaming data system using Kafka, Apache Apex, Rest API, Hive and HBase NoSQL to validate business transactions; Lead technology decisions, drive product implementation and delivery; Support application implementation and drive it to stable state in production; Provide alternate design solutions, design patterns along with project estimates; Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices, Build reusable code frameworks, benchmarking and improving performance, etc.; Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required; Demonstrate substantial depth of knowledge and experience in a specific area of Big Data technology stack, Java, Unix, SQL, PIg and Scala development; Drive the team and collaborate to meet project timelines; Act as a liaison for the leadership team and provide updates and status reports; Develop Data Visualization dashboards to display the data analytic trends using Kibana, Elasticserach and J2EE Technologies (Servlets, JSP, Web Services, JDBC, XML, spring, HTML and CSS); Mentor, manage, and guide other engineers within the team; and Manage software development team with detailed understanding of project life cycle right from inception to delivery includes Proposals, Estimate, Setup a team, execute, coordinate and implement the solution. This position supervises up to eight employees including Apps Developers II, Sr Software Engineers, and Apps Dev Consults.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Applications, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8 years related progressive, post-baccalaureate experience. Will accept experience gained concurrently.
- Must also have 12 months demonstrated ability with each of the following: (1) Design, develop, test and maintain Big data applications using UNIX, SQL, JAVA; (2) Large scale enterprise Data management including extract, transformation, enrich and load; (3) Big data technologies, Data Fabric Framework, Scala and Data Lake Implementation; (4) Streaming and high throughput messaging systems using Kafka and Apache apex/DataTorrent and do performance benchmarking with billion records datasets and tuning; and (5) 1 Healthcare domain, production implementation of Pig, Hive, Hbase, Spark, Scala, KIbana and ElasticSearch applications.
