Senior Benefit Analyst – Eden Prairie, MN

It’s that time, isn’t it?  You’re ready for the next big step forward and for an opportunity to build on your skills.  It just so happens that there’s never been a better time to become a part of the team at UnitedHealth Group.  We have an opportunity for a Senior Benefit Business Analyst to analyze, design and build complex benefits within a new health care administration platform (similar to Facets, HealthRules or QNXT).  Duties include reaching out to IT and business partners, troubleshooting and fixing benefit design errors, providing guidance to less experienced employees, participating in quality assurance activities, and ensuring day-to-day issues are identified and appropriately addressed. This role is office based in Eden Prairie, MN.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Analysis & Design:
    • Participate in requirements gathering, analysis and design activities, including analyzing products and designing/configuring benefit plans, claim rules or clinical edits
    • Perform peer review and provide training to less experienced employees
    • Communicate designs to all stakeholders at varying levels of the organization
    • Present and evaluate solutions objectively and facilitate conflict resolution
    • Define, use and communicate design patterns and best practices in service-oriented analysis, design and development
  • Build & Maintenance:
    • Configure new business, including products/benefits, claim rules, or clinical edits within a health care administration system (e.g. Facets)
    • Create and/or update source-to-target data mapping and/or data transformation rules
    • Document products and designs
  • Quality Assurance:
    • QA the work of less experienced employees, and participate in testing of health care administration system (e.g. Facets) to ensure configuration is ready for implementation
    • Collaborate with quality assurance team to ensure testing efforts align with system deliverables and business processes
    • Identify and recommend strategies to improve service development life cycle and governance processes
    • Understand and use enterprise service and data models

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in health care and/or health insurance
  • 3+ years of experience in Benefit, Claim, or Clinical analysis, design and build experience, and/or IT configuration or system analysis
  • 3+ years of experience identifying patterns within quantitative data, drawing conclusions, and recommending solutions and approaches; skilled with end-to-end issue resolution
  • Intermediate or greater level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Large-scale platform implementation or migration experience
  • Knowledge of data structures within a health care administration system (e.g. Facets)
  • Ability to clearly articulate (both verbal and written) project status and issues management
  • Agile or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational abilities are essential
  • Ability to work effectively with minor supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality standards and meeting assigned deadlines
