The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is a key member of a newly formed team that is designing and developing industry leading data visualizations and operational analytics to support UnitedHealth Group’s Payment Integrity organization. This role will leverage big data technologies to synthesize complex information and present it in a fashion so that Payment Integrity operations team can optimize business performance.  This role will also work closely with and contribute to Optum Ireland’s data visualization center of excellence. 

 

With this role you must make solid recommendations based on analysis and provide explanations to our internal customers. You must be self-directed and creative as you will deal with some very interesting and complex issues. As a key resource to others you must maintain a high degree of accuracy along with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to always meet deadlines.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build reporting, dashboards  and analytics to improve business performance
  • Interact with internal customers to effectively design, implement, operationalize and document reporting that accurately captures business requirements
  • Work collaboratively with business partners, SMEs, BAs and Testers to ensure a shared understanding of business requirements
  • Manage implementation of reporting enhancements and changes
  • Develop and maintain documentation that chronicles processes related to previous analytic activities and associated results
  • Communicate with various functional areas and translate technical concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in economics, business, finance, accounting, engineering, etc. or equivalent qualification
  • Experience performing significant data analysis and report development
  • Strong SQL experience, including experience with various database technologies (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL)
  • Strong Experience of writing complex SQL queries for Data Analysis & Reconciliation
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, database structures and design, systems
  • Design and data management
  • Experience with Data Visualization / Dashboard tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, SSRS)
  • Experience with data blending tools (e.g. Alteryx, SSIS, Boomi)
  • Experience with design and implementation of ETL/ELT framework for complex warehouses/data marts (e.g. SSIS/ TalenD)
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in writing and orally to individuals and groups
  • Individuals in this role must have European National status or be otherwise authorized to live and work in Dublin, Ireland

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of HIVE and its components within Big data
  • Experience with AtScale OLAP technology on Hadoop
  • Working knowledge of MDX
  • Working knowledge of Apache Spark
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices
  • Agile development methodology
