Senior Big Data Analytic Developer - Eden Prairie, MN, Rocky Hill, CT

Our team provides Analytic Application development and support, Business Intelligence Solutions, Custom Reporting, and Consulting for Optum Payment Integrity and clients across Optum and UnitedHealthCare.  We provide data analytic development services that identify overpayments or recoveries for Data Mining, Coordination of Benefits (COB), Fraud Waste Abuse and Error (FWAE), Subrogation, and Customer Reporting Consulting teams.  We also provide Business Intelligence Solutions and Visualizations that allow our business partners to execute requests themselves through a robust Self-Service and Data Visualization Application.
 
Our Senior Big Data Analytic Developer position will develop new applications and analytics, enhance existing analytics, and on-going support and maintenance.  The team uses SAS as our primary tool executing on a Unix-based SAS Grid environment but are moving more towards executing on a Big Data environment using Big Data tools like Python, Scala, Spark, and Kafka as examples.  This role is to lead and contribute on new initiatives utilizing BDP and Tools, contribute in solutions migrating current SAS based analytics to the BDP, and mentor to the team.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide realistic effort estimates and project timelines for development and support projects
  • Interpret business requirements and functional specifications and create technical design and technical specifications documents
  • Develop applications and analytics following existing standard structures and macros
  • Develop for a production environment
  • Conduct data extraction and research studies that may include analyzing, reviewing, trending, and presenting information, based on provided specifications, to support adhoc data request
  • Work with business engagement leaders and technical analysts to develop new and modify existing process documentation and templates
  • Conduct analyses of data elements within existing source data mart schemas
  • Analyze healthcare claims from different data sources and identify data integrity issues
  • Perform unit, system and regression testing for quality assurance
  • Performance tuning and issue resolution
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, ideas and information relating to BD technologies and be a key technical expert within the team
  • Lead / Mentor new and existing team members
  • Continually identify deficiencies in production processes, propose enhancements, and implement those enhancements to increase productivity or reduce manual effort

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience with Python, Spark, and PySpark
  • 3+ years of experience with Hadoop and HDFS
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and Hive
