Senior Business Intelligence Developer/Reporting Analyst - Eden Prairie, MN or Boston, MA

Optum Analytics is hiring a Senior Healthcare Data Developer/Analyst as part of the growing Optum Analytics Managed Services (OAMS) team. Providing high quality analytics solutions for both payer and provider markets is a key component of our future business strategy.  Presents analyses results/recommendations to customer in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. Recommends and implements improvements to reports and dashboards. Leads complex reporting and analytics projects. Ensures completeness, timeliness and quality of information. Provides subject matter expertise on data elements and report content related to the data warehouse. Coordinates with end users, data warehouse developers, DBA’s and change/release managers to ensure total system quality assurance.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use analytical skills to design, develop and maintain reports, dashboards and visualizations that provide insight to internal partners and external clients

  • Interpret reports and analyses to make recommendations for internal and external audiences

  • Lead complex reporting and analytics projects, including managing meetings and project plans

  • Work with clients and business partners to create use cases and build supporting documentation 

  • Work with technology teams to investigate system performance and data issues

  • Develop a sense of urgency when key deliverables are jeopardized; facilitate problem solving and meetings to address obstacles

  • Perform other related duties as assigned



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience

  • 4+ years of data analysis work experience

  • 3+ years of development experience with MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik or similar reporting/BI/analytics tools

  • 3+ years of database query development experience

  • 2+ years of experience working with enterprise data warehouse environments

  • 1+ year in a healthcare organization (provider, payer etc.)

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct and work in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field

  • Experience with Microstrategy (9.x or 10.x)

  • Experience with Oracle Databases

  • Experience in Healthcare Analytics
