Senior Capacity / IT Performance Management Analyst - Multiple locations

Enterprise Stability and Operational Support (ESOS) is responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise data services for UnitedHealth Group and its companies.  Focused on providing a world-class mix of cost, quality, and service delivery, this area is committed to building a top-tier network team and driving continuous improvement in the standards for performance. This area is also responsible for supporting IT across the enterprise for development frameworks, standard operating environments, quality improvements, and application operations.


We are looking for an experienced professional to develop and maintain mainframe capacity / performance systems, databases, and reports. Duties will include monitoring daily system activity, analyzing system data to determine current and projected performance, and providing recommendations for enhancing performance and availability.


Interface with computer operations staff and with technical support staff. Provide support to both internal users and external customers. Perform training and problem resolution support for customers and end-user at different experience levels. Perform queue management functions and analyze system performance. Become knowledgeable of user applications and database and associated systems and peripherals. Work with business and technical entities to define and document business requirements. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Drive toward strategic long-term goals, policies and procedures as well as resolving daily challenges.  

  • Provide technical input for development and implementation of strategic and tactical planning, applications support and user services.

  • Work with appropriate areas within company to identify user needs

  • Utilize tuning services to meet those needs across all levels of the organization.

  • Work closely with Capacity Planning, Technical Services, and Infrastructure Services to ensure long-term computing needs are identified and quantified

  • Provide benchmarking for application, hardware, systems, and operating system releases.

  • Interface with vendors and IT industry professionals on information management and information technology matters

  • Provide performance monitoring and support in routine oncall rotation

  • High School Diploma / GED or higher 
  • 5+ years performance tuning in a large enterprise environment 
  • Strong technical knowledge of mainframe computing platform
  • Experience with SAS, RMF. MXG and / or performance tuning tools 
  • Experience with Work Load Manager
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a Computer Science or related discipline
