The Senior Enterprise Architect works with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to understand and build a holistic view of the enterprise’s strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets, and then uses that context to define an enterprise-wide IT architecture that will meet current and future needs in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.

The Senior Enterprise Architect also defines and refines enterprise technical standards, roadmaps, modules, and tools for the enterprise, and partners with business and IT leaders and architects to provide direction and architectural strategy advice on complex and dynamic issues.

Responsibilities

The Senior Enterprise Architect works with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to understand and build a holistic view of the enterprise’s strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets, and then uses that context to define an enterprise-wide IT architecture that will meet current and future needs in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.

The Senior Enterprise Architect also defines and refines enterprise technical standards, roadmaps, modules, and tools for the enterprise, and partners with business and IT leaders and architects to provide direction and architectural strategy advice on complex and dynamic issues.

Scope of work is typically enterprise-wide. Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

               

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Align IT architecture technology strategy and frameworks to enable the company's business strategy and goals, by providing guidance and building consensus among and across stakeholders. 
  • Translate strategies into target architectures and roadmaps. 
  • Define current enterprise architecture, and identify issues within it. 
  • Refine and/or redesign enterprise architecture to meet the organization’s changing business requirements. 
  • Optimize information management through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities. 
  • Hold strategic architectural oversight for the company's IT systems. 
  • Promote the sharing of infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flow. Ensure that Initiatives do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other or from business and IT strategies. 
  • Facilitate interaction across all architect roles within the enterprise. 
  • Work with solution and domain architect(s) to provide a consensus-based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable, and in synchronization with ever-changing business needs. 
  • Be involved in the development of policies, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of Information Technology within the enterprise. 
  • Control the consistency and compliancy of architecture deliverables across the enterprise. 
  • Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.

Competencies

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools
  • Experience with Enterprise and Business Architecture
  • Extensive knowledge of fundamental analysis methodologies
  • Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and evangelize
  • Experience building domain architecture models
  • Experience designing and integrating multi-application solutions
  • Experience with SOA design and implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Progressive experience as a senior architect or technical lead in large IT initiatives spanning multiple enterprise systems
  • 10+ years experience in application, infrastructure, or business architecture.
  • Familiar with .net, Java, various new technologies (this is not a development position)

  • Master's Degree
  • EA Framework Certifications
  • Orbus iServer Experience
