The Sr. Financial Analyst role provides financial planning and analysis support for Optum Operations Enabling Services. This complex, multi-site operation has annual operating costs of $400 million and staffing levels of approximately 6,000, excluding the normal seasonal ramp.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop, perform and manage the analyses of business and financial SG&A, volumes, metrics and FTE trends and performance measures
  • Develop and maintain financial reports to clearly communicate month-end actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan, forecast and budget  
  • Develop, perform and manage all aspects of financial planning, monthly budgeting / forecasting activities and analysis working closely with the business and financial partners  
  • Develop and maintain financial tools, models, and reports to consolidate data from a variety of sources and efficiently meet the reporting needs of management and the business
  • Work closely with the business to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies
  • Produce clear, well-formatted reports that communicate a clear, compelling message for their stakeholders
  • Understand and incorporate specific metrics into reports to highlight relevant trends and support fact-based business decisions  
  • Leads the financial development and management of capital, operating expenses and develops benchmarks and analytics to guide the appropriate investment in infrastructure    
  • Make contributions to the team and serve as key resource to others
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of finance and/or accounting experience
  • Financial planning and analysis experience  
  • Financial acumen and P&L management skills experience
  • Strong analytical and technical experience 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience driving business performance in a high growth environment
  • Workforce planning experience
  • Experience anticipating accounting, forecasting, and operational issues, assessing their implications, and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
  • Intermediate level experience with Excel to include (Macros, V-Lookups, SumIFs, Pivot Tables)
  • MPWR, Smart View or other planning tool experience
  • Experience developing queries utilizing MS Access, Excel Addin-ODBC capabilities or other DB query experience
Soft Skills:
  • Work collaboratively and influence across a matrix environment to drive revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives
  • Executive presence, ability to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders
