Senior IT Systems Analyst, Database – Eden Prairie, MN

The Payment Integrity Software Engineering team is looking for a strong data-focused analyst able to develop a bullet-proof understanding of complicated data infrastructure and be integral in educating others as to the value that our data products will provide. Stellar collaboration with multiple roles and teams is a must, and in those interactions the Systems Analyst should own the products, seize on accountability, and drive results. The Systems Analyst will support one or more Scrum teams, provide technical leadership and work with Technical Product Managers/Product Owners, SME's, and Senior Management. This role will be key for delivering on high-impact projects including Big Data, Cloud, and APIs for all of Optum Product Engineering.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Develop a deep end-to-end understanding of data infrastructure and educate others on related concepts and values
  • Elicit requirements to describe implementation solutions for initial design and product improvement 
  • Own requirements and translate into user stories and specification documentation
  • Validate requirements with stakeholders and provide suggestions and recommendations 
  • Lead internal review sessions and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization 
  • Document, discuss and resolve business, data and reporting issues with one or multiple teams to implement and improve on software solutions
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and technical teams regarding enhancements, changes, issues and defects that may impact development, data, workflow and/or functionality
  • Perform data analysis, using in-depth knowledge of relational databases and healthcare data
  • Present written and verbal data analysis findings, to both the project team and business stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate with multiple roles, including business stakeholders/SMEs, PMs, developers, system architects, QA, operations, etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ months of Cloud/Container experience (Azure, AWS, Docker, etc.)
  • 3+ years IT systems/business analysis experience
  • 3+ years of experience with test automation
  • 1+ year data analysis experience
  • 1+ year of Agile experience
  • 3+ years of experience / working knowledge of relational databases, database structures and SQL
  • Experience gathering and writing business requirements and translating them into technical specifications
  • Able to share complicated concepts with both high and low-tech audiences, especially in quality writing products
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data warehouse experience
  • Experience working on Big Data projects
  • Healthcare experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
