Senior Payroll Specialist

Cost Plus World Market - Alameda, California

General Overview:

Responsible for processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll using Kronos automated timekeeping and ADP/EV5.  This position requires strong analytical abilities and an understanding of payroll compliance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Input pay data for all Corporate and DC Exempt employees into ADP/EV5
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees in a timely manner
  • Handle subpoenas and employment verification's for the entire company.  Including research, response, communication with employees, set-up in ADP/EV5 and maintaining files on each employee
  • Interface with the Corporate Office, DC’s and/or Stores, handling manual checks, direct deposit, tax forms, personal information changes, new hire information, payroll discrepancies and payroll distribution
  • Assist Payroll Manager with special projects, system updates, report writing, and year-end W-2 audit and processing

Job Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years experience in a multi-state environment with ADP/EV5 and Kronos preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and consistently meet critical deadlines
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and advances Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written & listening)
  • Strong math aptitude and problem solving skills
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Occasional lifting and packing of boxes for record retention (up to 20 lbs)
