Title Solution Architect II Position Posting Location Buffalo Status Full Time Regular Hours As required Job Description Serves as a senior architect within the Solution Architecture function. The role is responsible for mentoring other Architects, along with building relationships with other areas of the company outside of a project setting.
Within a project setting, the Architect collaborates with business partners, business analysts, systems analysts, and subject matter experts to fully understand business objectives and translate them into a buildable, testable solution to achieve a business outcome. Works with other architects, application delivery, quality assurance, and infrastructure teams to develop quality solution design artifacts that follow industry best practices and HealthNow Technology standards. Develops enterprise level solutions that integrate across applications, technology platforms, and data assets. Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and solutions to solve business problems. Viewed as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines. Contributes in establishing both Solution Architecture best practices and enterprise-wide Technology standards. Primary Responsibility Builds trusted advisor relationships with other areas of the business, including senior leadership and other planning teams. Organizes and plans the technical dependencies across a portfolio of work. Provides technical consultant expertise to turn anticipated business change into a solution; often contributes on strategic initiatives that have a high degree of complexity. Documents changes required to achieve business outcomes that consistently follow approved modeling standards. Ensures project-level designs adhere to approved Technology standards. Communicates architectural changes to core project teams via meeting facilitation/presentations. Facilitates proof of concepts and solution prototypes working with Application Development teams. Collaborates with Application Delivery staff to ensure technical specifications align with solution design and enterprise architecture. Drives developing a Reference Architecture, which includes Technology standards, patterns, and decision frameworks. Evaluates and validates technologies, and conducts research to mitigate development risks early in the development process. Maintains strong business and deep technical knowledge in order to provide guidance to upper level leadership, along with assigned project initiatives. Drives establishing and governing Solution Architecture best practices. Mentors other Architects on methods, communication techniques, and business acumen. Knowledge and Skills Understanding of TOGAF and ArchiMate is required. Five (5) years work experience with UML or other relevant modeling frameworks. Five (5) years of deep exposure to application development frameworks, along with a deep understanding of SOA/ESB, ETL concepts, and design patterns. Broad understanding of industry leading integration tools and frameworks, cloud computing, and DevOps concepts, APIs, data management concepts, and platforms. Stays informed on emerging and innovative technologies. Strong technical acumen and ability. Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to meet team collaboration and documentation standards. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization (technical and non-technical) and with outside contractors and vendors. Progressive leadership skills with strong coaching, mentoring, and development capabilities. Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while maintaining quality standards and meeting assigned deadlines. Qualifications Problem Solving Skills: Must possess critical thinking ability to provide forward thinking solutions that solve defined business problems, applying big-picture thinking. Experience 2 years work experience in an Architecture role required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 5 years work experience in an Architecture role, healthcare experience, and TOGAF or ArchiMate certifications are preferred, but not required.
