We have an opportunity for a Manager of Business Analysis to work with an emerging clinical program under United Clinical Services.  This is a telecommute role. As a leader in the Hospital Care Transition Program, you will be part of UnitedHealth Group's mission of helping people live healthier lives. The Hospital Care Transition Program supports and coordinates care transitions during a hospital event.  The goal of the program is to anticipate, prepare and support hospitals in transitioning UHC members from a hospital event in a way that drives positive experiences for the member and provider; resulting in efficient and stress-free coordination and ensures the appropriate level of care to meet the clinical needs of the UHC member. While bridging gaps in discharge coordination and facilitating hard hand offs to post acute networks and community clinical programs.

This is an opportunity to be visionary and strategic and help determine how this new program will work. You will grow and develop as you analyze and review business data needs, build data systems, and create dynamic reporting.  You will work with internal partners, hospitals, and the Hospital Care Transitions team to move this exciting program forward and get coordinators fully functional. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, review, forecast, and trend complex data management needs
  • Present analysis and interpretation for operational and business review and planning
  • Build and/or support databases and reporting capability to support operational / strategic business activities
  • Develop recommended data solutions through research and analysis and implementation of data process
  • Ability to problem solve including multiple priorities and research conflicting and / or inaccurate data
  • Ability to read and comprehend database queries and code without extensive direction
  • Ability to create forms to link to data including developing User Interfaces
  • Ability to develop technical specs from business requirements 
  • Work directly with network teams and other internal partners to prepare hospitals for the Hospital Care Transition Program
  • Track and trend progress of hospital engagement and readiness activities
  • Track and trend progress of staffing and onboarding activities
  • Support Hospital Care Transition leadership with productivity reporting and solutions
  • Support Hospital Care Transitions with tools needed to be successful onsite

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science - software development, related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years Business or Data Analysis experience
  • 3+ years of experience in relational databases and database structures 
  • Advanced Level of  expertise with SQL, including experience with Oracle SQL 
  • Ability to write complex queries and debug existing queries
  • Ability to automate reports
  • Experience and proficiency in workflow management - understanding how data integrates with business needs
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Excel, Access and VBA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate knowledge of C# or a language such as Java, C++, and or Python
  • MS SQL Server 2008 or later
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and/or evaluation of business processes
  • Ability to communicate analysis including trends and opportunities to the business both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to succeed in self-directed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks 
  • Strong customer service skills – ability
