Sr Financial Analyst - Pomona, CA

This position will be part of the UHC E&I Financial organization and will focus specifically on the EPIC Hearing business.  Ear Professionals International Corporation (EPIC), a leader in national hearing healthcare, recently became a member of the UnitedHealth Group family of companies.  The position will work onsite in the Pomona, CA offices of EPIC Hearing and work closely with the EPIC Hearing Chief Operating Officer.  The position will have responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, pricing analysis and other financial analysis.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for revenue and medical costs
  • Provides input for SG&A Expenses & FTE’s to support budget and forecast development
  • Creates and updates financial models for revenue, cost per claim, and cost per unit trend & variance analysis
  • Develops & monitors metrics & drivers of expense, especially as it relates to fixed vs variable costs
  • Prepares trend & variance analysis to drive business decisions & cost efficiencies
  • Develops a hearing aid pricing formulary for RFPs         
  • Works closely with business partners to develop & recommend strategies to ensure alignment with Cost Challenges, Business Plans, CBA’s, & financial targets
  • Monitors cost allocations of SG&A expenses across business segments and products and adjusts intersegment agreements & chargebacks accordingly
  • Develops and maintains financial reports to clearly communicate actual results vs forecasted, year-over-year, and forecast over forecast performance; in total, by business segment and by client
  • Utilizes scorecards, slide decks, charts and graphs to efficiently report business performance metrics


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree  preference in Finance or Accounting
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in a financial analysis role
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Understanding of metrics & drivers of expenses (prefer experience related to fixed vs variable costs, rate vs volume analysis, Unit Cost Analysis, and PMPM Costs)
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint including data management, pivot tables, data lookups and working with macros
  • Large budgeting system and large G/L system experience
  • Hyperion Essbase, Smart View or similar system experience
  • Ability to lead special projects working collaboratively across the organization with business, capacity planning, & finance partners 
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cost Benefit Analysis, & Cost Accounting specifically unit cost/ rate vs. volume analysis
  • Experience related to Fixed vs Variable Costs, Rate vs Volume Analysis, Unit Cost Analysis, and PMPM Costs)
  • PeopleSoft (GL, AP, Inquiry) experience
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization including business partners’ management team & staff, and finance leadership & peers
