Position Summary

Provide leadership and direction in store operations by clearly articulating the Company's strategic plan and delegating responsibilities to implement training methods and merchandising techniques which will achieve the Company's objectives. Store Leader is held accountable for all departments and customers in the store. Adhere to the Company's Statement of Values, Quality Policy, and Philosophy on the Treatment of Team Members and all Company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and maintain safety programs and procedures to ensure the safety of customers and Team Members by communicating safety procedures, investigating complaints and accident reports, and performing physical inspection of store facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with local, state, and OSHA regulations.
  • Develop and execute merchandising techniques, and appropriate Team Member training, to increase sales and develop more efficient store operations in order to meet changing customer requirements and the Company's business plans.
  • Assist in the development and administration of a fiscal plan in order to efficiently and accurately meet customer requirements while striving to lower controllable expenses, achieve gross profit goals, and maximize profits.
  • Analyze the Customer Satisfaction Index and mystery shop scores, identify areas needing improvement, and design programs and procedures to meet objectives.
  • Analyze the Team Member Point of View survey results, identify areas needing improvement, and use communication processes, reward and recognition programs and training to reduce Team Member turnover and improve the index.
  • Direct efforts of Department Team Leaders to implement training and communication processes, which promote the continuous development of Team Members and help to identify candidates for the Team Leader Development Program.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all federal, state and local laws and government programs (EEO, ADA, WIC program, federal tobacco and state liquor regulations).
  • Where applicable, foster good working relations with union members and representatives by addressing their concerns and articulating the Company's interpretation of the labor agreement and policies in a consistent manner.
  • Ensure that proper procedures are being followed so that store meets out-of-stock percentage goal.
  • Provide leadership that promotes and exemplifies a Passion for Food.
  • Develop competencies of department Team Leaders in proper utilization of tools and technology available to meet business objectives; i.e., periscope, etc.
  • Sponsor and attend events in the surrounding areas to ensure Giant Eagle's commitment to the betterment of the community.
  • Strong understanding of store operations in a retail environment
  • Ability to interpret and articulate the intent of a collective bargaining agreement
  • Major budgetary and financial responsibility for a group function.
  • Responsible for direct and indirect supervision of team members in one or more departments.

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelors Degree Retail Management, Business Administration or similar OR High school diploma AND total of 7 years Retail leadership experience

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years Retail leadership experience

Experience Desired

  • 5 years experience as a Store Leader or Director
  • Successful performance as a Peer Trainer, Master Trainer or other similar role
  • Successful performance as an in-store champion (e.g., safety, service, wellness) or similar role

Age Requirement
