Corporate Strategy

The Corporate Strategy team helps define Wells Fargo’s enterprise-wide strategy, partnering with the company’s Operating Committee and senior leaders throughout the company to lead change. The team is responsible for the annual Wells Fargo strategic plan. Corporate Strategy also leads internal consulting project such as creating an enterprise-wide unified consumer strategy; assessing market entry and build versus buy decisions; and developing playbooks for response to cybersecurity threats.

As a Strategic Planning Manager, you will use your business acumen to lead the framing and analysis of strategic problems, your project management skills to design and deliver project outcomes, and your communication skills to present strategy recommendations to executive leadership and partners across the company. Reporting to one of the Corporate Strategy team leaders, you will be expected to:

  • Create original thought leadership content by conducting competitive assessments, consumer research, financial analysis, and industry research
  • Evaluate enterprise-wide strategic options to respond to our evolving market (e.g., surveying trends in the external environment) and develop recommendations for specific areas of Wells Fargo
  • Work closely with line of business and cross-functional leadership to formulate long-term strategic priorities related to internal business performance improvement, emerging industry trends, and expansion opportunities
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex, enterprise-wide projects by partnering with stakeholders and team members and leveraging firm-wide resources

  • Versatile: able to transition between disparate projects, such as organizational design, process re-engineering, and financial modeling

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 3+ years of management experience
Desired Qualifications

  • A Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management and implementation in a matrix managed environment
  • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience articulating a complex problem, design, or build strategy
Other Desired Qualifications
  • Excel in all areas of strategy development, including project management, business analysis, problem solving, executive communication, consensus building and people development
  • Analytical capabilities to assess disparate financial data, market research reports, and project documents, and draw conclusions and tell a cogent story of findings
  • Experience in product development, project management, or a similarly strategic role
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of a new process, project or product
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across a highly matrixed enterprise, engaging stakeholders with a variety of points of view, and making appropriate compromises while still achieving project goals
