Strategic Sourcing Lead

Description

The Strategic Sourcing Lead generates and implements efficient sourcing and category management strategies. The Strategic Sourcing Lead will support the Sourcing teams by managing tactical sourcing initiatives (<$500K). The Strategic Sourcing Lead will be expected to lead the end-to-end sourcing process for assigned projects, build relationships with suppliers and business stakeholders, and drive incremental value for the business. Cross-functional and cross-business coordination both within Humana and with Humana’s supplier base is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sourcing teams in achieving sourcing objectives by leading tactical sourcing events
  • Engage in End to End tactical RFP Execution, Management, and Analytics
  • Gather and interpret relevant data to assess costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc.
  • Contribute to post-contract sourcing delivery success (savings, compliance, buying channel optimization) related to assigned sourcing projects
  • Combine solution results with graphics to create presentations and reports for reporting both inside and outside of Humana Enterprise Procurement
  • Provide Actionable Savings, Spend, and Compliance Insight
  • Ensure that legal terms in contracts are in line with category and procurement objectives
  • Support Wave Planning / Pipeline Process

               

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in related field, preferably in a business or technical discipline
  • Solid public speaking and negotiation skills required
  • Strong financial and business acumen required
  • Proven ability to speak with and work across all levels of the business
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (i.e. Word, Access, Visio, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel including modeling and development of macros
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze, draw conclusions, and make recommendations from multi-faceted and often ambiguous data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to motivate project team members and stakeholders to meet established deadlines
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Detail oriented and critical thinker
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to learn new skill sets quickly as the need arises
  • Effectiveness in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant sourcing experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to research and make efficient use of resources to achieve effective business results
  • Experience in developing project plans and presenting business cases to Senior Leaders preferred
  • Understanding of major sourcing processes, supplier and customer interface
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a timely and professional manner; ability to transfer lessons learned into new processes; flexibility in job focus
  • Experience with e-sourcing tools
  • Experience in reverse auctions preferred
