Serves as a liaison between the physician's practice and current and former patients. Provides accurate information about the surgeons, the practice, and anticipated procedures. The primary responsibility is to facilitate the surgeon's consultation with the patient by providing both pre- and post-operative information, effective fee quoting and scheduling optimization. Brief patients with procedures estimations, schedule surgery dates, collects payments, establish rapport with patients, track schedule changes, handles cancellations/rescheduling, obtain necessary authorizations and verify insurance coverage. Assist with nursing duties and front office duties as needed.
Surgery Office Experience Preferred, Professional Demeanor, Strong Communication skills (Verbal/Written), detail oriented, good follow through and organizational skills a must. Three to five years of work experience, in a surgical practice preferred
Experience with EPIC and excel programs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to understand patient concerns and handle them appropriately.
Neat, professional appearance.
Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization process
Able to discuss payment arrangements with patients, and willing to collect prepayments.
Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position
Must be able to withstand constant standing, walking, stooping and bending
Must be able to work as a team member.
Must be able to respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations
Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
Preferred: Associates or Bachelors Degree
Required: CMA/RMA with 3-5 years' experience
