Description

The Lead, IT Disaster Recovery person assists in development of risk management procedures, business continuance scenarios, contingency and disaster recovery plans for central and distributed systems and networks to maintain operations during downtime and/or major disasters. The Lead, IT Disaster Recovery person works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Responsibilities

The Lead, IT Disaster Recovery person develops and implements policies, procedures and plans for business continuance and disaster recovery, from a technology perspective. Requirement to work closely with various operational and support groups within IT and with outside groups like the Enterprise Resiliency Office and Enterprise Information Protection. Acceptable candidate to be Involved in the evaluation and selection of vendors to ensure service level agreements meet business continuance and disaster recovery planning requirements. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance to the business and IT. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determines/recommends the best course of action.

Planning Integration & Management

  • Responsibility to coordinate closely with Information Technology, Enterprise Information Protection, Enterprise Risk Organization and others
  • Responsibility for defining and promoting Humana DR strategy for business units, technology, IT Disaster Recovery Director and the rest of the ITDR Group
  • Provide recommendations & guidance in coordinating, assessing, improving & communicating recovery environment requirements associated with Humana Data Center current, in plan & new activities, to appropriate leadership, management & technology groups, resulting in recommendations to enable timely, effective decisions regarding alternate site hardware/software planning & recovery
  • Provide very complex project management skills coordinating, assessing, improving & communicating recovery environment requirements associated with Data Center current, in plan & new activities, to appropriate management, technology and non-technology groups/stakeholders, resulting in recommendations to enable timely, effective decisions regarding alternate site recovery planning

Exercise & Validation

  • Responsibility for definition, scheduling, execution and reporting of corporate DR alternate site exercise and validation efforts
  • Responsible for participating in the development, maintenance and continual enhancement of DR alternate site exercise and validation program policies & procedures, working closely with Humana DR stakeholders & management
  • Provide very complex project leadership between IT technology groups, applications teams and business units, emphasizing regular, direct communication between all teams supporting the DR efforts, ensuring that alternate site strategy & capabilities are adequate to support Humana recovery objectives
  • Coordinate activities between the IT technology groups, application development and other business units, emphasizing regular, direct communication between all teams supporting DR alternate site exercise & validation efforts
  • Extensive experience with and an understanding of enterprise data replication & automation technologies
  • Coordinate & facilitate all aspects of the disaster recovery maintenance, exercise & validation program
  • Expected to interact regularly with various technology support, application development, information security, facilities & other group's management & staff for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling and maintaining the ITDR Alternate Site Exercise & Validation Program

Documentation & Process & Administration

  • Responsibility for working with ITDR team to develop & maintain ITDR Policies, Processes, Procedures & Controls
  • Help to standardize & maintain all ITDR Program Policies, Processes, Procedures & Controls, including coordination with Enterprise Compliance, Legal, Audit & Security
  • Responsibility for definition and execution of corporate ITDR Plan documentation creation and regular maintenance efforts
  • Provide project management skills coordinating, assessing & improving disaster recovery documentation and communicating other ITDR administrative requirements associated with on-going ITDR program activities
  • Experience with creating and maintaining DR Program documentation using MS Word and Archer
  • Coordinate with appropriate technology & application support functions to facilitate all aspects of keeping DR Plan documentation up to date
  • Interact regularly with the Humana Disaster Recovery stakeholders, various technology support, application development, information security, facilities & other group's management & staff for the purpose of refining and maintaining required DR documentation and plans

               

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive Disaster Recovery knowledge & experience
  • 10+ years of technical experience
  • 5+ years of project leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science ( related field or 8 years of additional, relevant experience may be substituted for education.
