Technical Writer, Risk Adjustment - WellMed - San Antonio, TX

The Technical Writer will be in charge of technical documentation for WellMed’s Risk Adjustment software products. This person will document code, algorithms, process and data flows. This person will write user guides and FAQ’s and will serve as librarian for all technical documentation. They will ensure that all materials are properly tagged and indexed and easy to find for internal staff and external users.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all technical documentation for WellMed’s Risk Adjustment software products

  • Documents code, algorithms, process and data flows

  • Responsible for researching, writing and maintaining user guides, FAQ’s and online Help.

  • Serve as primary librarian for all technical and user documentation

  • Responsible for tagging and indexing all technical documentation to ensure that it is easy for internal staff and external users to find information

  • Position involves close collaboration with teams and associates in Risk Adjustment and IT to ensure that documentation solutions are accurate, comprehensive, and applicable to the needs of the business

  • Translates technical information into clear, easy to understand language as applicable to ensure readability for both technical and non-technical users

  • Periodically audits and reviews documentation to determine whether format or content changes are required. Meets with subject matter experts and other business contacts as necessary to determine the nature of any content changes

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Business, Computer Science, or Information Systems (4+ additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)

  • 5+ years of experience in technical documentation of software products

  • Experience with various software system development lifecycles such as waterfall, and Agile methods

  • Working knowledge of content management and information design

  • Detail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be asked to provide writing samples

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, Wiki and online Help authoring

  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Health Care

  • Working knowledge of Medicare Risk Adjustment

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery

  • Ability to properly drive and operate a company vehicle

  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing

  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
