The Transactional Materials Writer - Minnetonka, MN or Cypress, CA will be responsible for the following.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write clear and concise copy for a broad range of written and digital / electronic transactional materials for Medicare & Retirement, Community & State, Employee & Individual and Optum.
  • Accountable to write new or revise / update existing letters and other transactional materials
  • Ensure written materials meet needs of internal business partners
  • Ensure written materials are compliant per state and federal regulations
  • Follow established procedures and best practices
  • Leverage tools and systems for consistency and to streamline work
  • Ensure that projects are produced on time and with the quality promised to business partners
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of department processes and goals
  • Build relationships and serve as a trusted partner to colleagues and business partners
  • Monitor project dates and meet individual deliverables as well as support other team members to ensure quality / accuracy goals.
  • Escalate issues to management for support and / or guidance
  • Collaborate on problem resolution, quality strategies and production
  • Participate positively in meetings

Additional Role Responsibilities:

  • Ability to recognize and rationalize writing quality
  • Experience interacting and consulting with business partners.
  • In - depth knowledge of correct grammar and spelling
  • Knowledge of proofreading conventions
  • Extensive oral and written communication skills
  • Individual contributor who can manage both personal work and influence team initiatives
  • Working knowledge of templates / versions

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or higher
  • 1+ years of experience in written communication development
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Word (creating and editing documents)
  • Proficiency within Adobe (edit PDF's)
  • Proficiency within Microsoft PowerPoint (creating and editing decks)
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Excel (filter, sort, create, edit spreadsheets)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher)
  • Insurance Knowledge

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills; ability to communicate complex health insurance information in a clear, concise and easy to read written form.
  • Demonstrated to work collaboratively as well as independently to produce high quality deliverables within specified time - frame.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: speaking, listening, presenting, building relationships, managing conflict, handling stress, personal adaptability / flexibility
