This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the efficient and low cost transportation of goods within the Bed Bath & Beyond (all concepts) network. The role will work with Supply Chain partners across the BBB organization, all types of Transportation service providers, and use dynamic technology to accomplish these objectives.
Transportation Management (70%)
The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and facilitate the consolidation of multiple less-than-load shipments to full Truckload loads for freight savings purpose. This key responsibility requires utilizing the Mojo Optimization tool in Mercury Gate TMS to identify opportunities. This role will then work with Transportation Coordinators (internal), our partner carriers, shippers, and destination facilities to execute the consolidation plan.
This position will also be responsible for the tender of freight to Intermodal and OTR TL carriers, Pool Operators, and LTL carriers. Ensuring carrier EDI compliance, carrier on-time performance, and working with shippers to resolve service performance issues.
Knowledge of and past experience with web-based Transportation Management System (TMS) to execute carrier management activities is key.
The position will work with carriers on tactical level issues that come up daily, and will also help define strategic solutions to improve service and operating efficiency. Preparing presentations for periodic carrier management reviews and reporting to the internal organization the performance of our carrier partners is an integral part of the position.
Logistics Decision Support (30%)
Produce carrier scorecards to communicate performance specific to key metrics and drive lowest landed cost initiatives. Management reports will also detail logistics financials, carrier accessorial expense, freight variance (exception) detail, and carrier performance results.
Data mining from TMS and external databases will be required to produce the reporting and management tools needed. Support ongoing analysis for logistics and supply chain initiatives that drive strategic savings and business-wide results.
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of related experience required.
- Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Certification
- 2 years of experience anticipating future business needs; identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement, and executing strategies to improve efficiencies by optimizing performance and reducing expense
