Utilization Review Behavioral Health Care Advocate – Telecommute from Baton Rouge, LA

As a Behavioral Health Care Advocate (facility based) you will be responsible for case management and utilization review of behavioral health and substance abuse cases. You'll have a direct impact on the lives of our members as you recommend and manage the appropriate level of care throughout the entire treatment plan.

If you are located Baton Rouge, LA you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Focus on inpatient and residential treatment plans for psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
  • Make patient assessments and determining appropriate levels of care
  • Obtain information from providers on outpatient requests for treatment
  • Manage inpatient and outpatient mental health cases throughout the entire treatment plan
  • Determine if additional clinical treatment sessions are needed
  • Administer benefits and review treatment plans
  • Coordinate benefits and transitions between various areas of care
  • Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consulting with facility staff or outpatient care providers on those ideas
 
This is an office based position for the first 3 months of training and requires a daily commute to the Baton Rouge, LA office. If you are meeting all job standards after 3 months then you could work from home.  Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.
 
Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Required Qualifications:
  • Licensed Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriage or Family Counseling, or Licensed Ph.D., or an RN with 2 or more years of experience in behavioral health
  • Licenses must be active and unrestricted (LCSW, LPC or  LMFT)
  • 2+ years post licensure experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a related mental health environment
  • Proficient Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to toggle between multiple systems
  • Ability to type and talk at the same time
  • Ability to commute to the Baton Rouge, LA office on a daily basis for the first 3 months
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an inpatient  or residential setting
  • Dual diagnosis experience with mental health and substance abuse
  • Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patients
  • Experienced in substance abuse treatment
  • Experience with the Medicaid population
  • Previous facility - based experience
  • Experience working on a call queue
