The core mission of Optum Connect is to provide end-to-end Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and core administrative Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services to the commercial market. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business partners to gain understanding of their business needs

  • Understanding of the underlying drivers of the business (e.g., Key Performance Indicators [KPIs], business processes)

  • Understanding of the applicable industry/marketplace and their needs (e.g., healthcare, IT, insurance, banking, government, pharmacy)

  • Understanding of financial processes/tools to support IT plans and execution (e.g.,. capital project funding, cost/benefit analysis, Internal Operating Income [IOI], other financial metrics)

  • Drive understanding of the business environment and requirements among applicable stakeholders (e.g., own team, IT partners, business partners)

  • Understanding of the needs and priorities of external stakeholder groups, as applicable (e.g., members, providers, employers, government)

  • Translate IT terminology into common business language to ensure understanding by all stakeholders

  • Understanding of enterprise and segment IT goals, strategies and priorities, and how they support overall business objectives

  • Demonstrate understanding of IT methodologies and processes (e.g., UDP, RSA, PlanView, Prompt)

  • Knowledge of applicable system tools/technologies (e.g., OS, architecture, desktop, mobile, database, web, security)

  • Serve as a catalyst to drive continuous improvement of existing IT solutions (e.g., systems, applications, processes)

  • Manage/ensure compliance with applicable IT processes/procedures/frameworks (e.g., ITIL, UDP, RSA, PlanView)

  • Demonstrate understanding of current technology capabilities/limitations

  • Ensure appropriate risk assessment and mitigation planning for IT projects

  • Ensure proper functionality and implementation of applicable IT systems/processes

  • Manage execution across organizational lines, using influence without authority

  • Negotiate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to achieve win-win solutions that advance organizational goals

  • Pursue opportunities to adopt new technologies, and drive adoption to enhance business outcomes, as appropriate

  • Serve as subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific IT topics/issues

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years Healthcare provider industry experience
  • 10+ years of professional IT experience
  • 5+ years leading teams (at the director level) and managing IT department in a large, enterprise environment
  • Prior experience leading distributed teams
  • General understanding of Electronic Health Record systems (Epic or Cerner)
  • Proven engagement with clients, and ability to provide valuable insights and logical explanations when faced with difficult questions
  • Proven business acumen and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 75%. Travel is typically out on Monday and back late Thursday night, with work out of home office on non-travel days.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred
  • PMI certified Project Management Professional
