Web Development Specialist

ABOUT THE JOB The Web Development Specialist combines the art of design with the art of programming to develop front end web experiences for IKEA US. The Web Development Specialist works closely with the UX specialist, SEO specialist and Web Specialists to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role in defining how the application looks as well as how it works. This individual also explores functional solutions for all digital platforms. 

YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your tasks will include:

  • Responsible for production, modification, and maintenance of websites and web application user interfaces.

  • Creates tools that enhance how users see and interact with the site in any browser.

  • Brings a designer’s concept to life with HTML, CSS, JSON, and JavaScript.

  • Consults with the SEO Specialist regarding best practices for URL structure, etc.

  • Consults with the UX Specialist to optimize the user experience of all functional solutions and page structure.

  • Tests the site during development for usability and fixes any bugs, across various browsers and channels.

  • Collaborates with other developers, and web specialists/editors to develop features for our customer-facing web applications. 

YOUR PROFILE Your knowledge, skills and experience include:

  • 4 years relevant experience required

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field

  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JSON

  • Experience with client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including JQuery
