Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) consists of nearly 5,000 team members, in 50+ offices across North America, Europe, and Asia, focused on middle-market and large corporations and global institutional investors. Our sales, trading, origination, and research teams deliver a comprehensive set of capital market products and solutions to the broader Wells Fargo customer base, ranging from distribution of public debt and equity products to hedging interest rates, commodity, and equity risks.

Program Overview

Organized by industry sector, the Investment Banking team of Wells Fargo Securities is dedicated to understanding the unique competitive and operating environments of our clients. The group combines strong relationships and industry knowledge with superior capital markets and advisory capabilities that includes debt and equity underwriting, mergers and acquisitions, and loan syndications. Our team maintains active relationships with a broad universe of middle market, large corporate and institutional clients, and is highly experienced in delivering exceptional execution.

Summer Program
The Summer Associate Program provides an in-depth understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time investment banker. The duration of the summer program is approximately ten weeks. Summer associates receive a comprehensive professional and educational experience through on-the-job learning and practice by joining a business group and working alongside team members who are experts in their fields. In addition, the program offers organized activities that allow participants to receive analytical training, meet senior executives, network with other summer associates across business lines, and form lasting friendships.

The Summer Associate Program is non-rotational and provides the opportunity to gain exposure and experience working for one of the most well regarded financial institutions in the world; learn about our business and the many careers and professional development opportunities; expand personal and professional networks; incorporate knowledge gained in school while learning new skills and interview for future career opportunities at Wells Fargo. Summer associate opportunities are available in Charlotte, New York, San Francisco, with limited opportunities in Houston, and Los Angeles within one of the following industry or product groups.

Industry Coverage
Provides a full range of investment banking and advisory services to clients in the following industries:

  • Consumer & Retail

  • Energy and Power

  • Financial Institutions

  • Healthcare

  • Industrials

  • Technology, Media and Telecommunications

Leveraged Finance
Originates, structures, underwrites, and syndicates various debt (including high yield) and quasi-equity securities for corporate and financial sponsor clients. Provides financing solutions tailored to corporate and financial sponsor clients to support acquisition financing, growth financing, recapitalizations and/or refinancing transactions.

Financial Sponsors
Originates leveraged finance, mergers/acquisitions, and equity transactions.

Mergers and Acquisitions / Advisory
Assists middle market and large corporate clients in achieving their strategic and financial objectives in partnership with industry and specialty coverage groups. Services include sell side advisory, buy side advisory, strategic financial advisory, fairness opinions, takeover defense, and private equity placements.

Regional Investment Banking Group
Provides investment banking coverage to select middle-market clients and emerging growth companies in Wells Fargo's core commercial and retail geographic footprint. The group advises middle market financial sponsors and has dedicated merger and acquisition execution capabilities.

Eastdil Secured
Eastdil Secured is the foremost provider of financial advisory services to real estate owners. Eastdil Secured combines superior capital markets expertise with a deep understanding of real estate fundamentals to execute a wide range of real estate transactions for our clients ultimately producing superior results. Eastdil Secured's Real Estate Investment Banking Practice is dedicated to understanding the unique competitive and operating environments of our public and private real estate clients. The group combines strong relationships and industry knowledge with superior capital markets and strategic advisory capabilities that includes debt and equity underwriting through its affiliate Wells Fargo Securities, mergers and acquisitions, private equity placements and loan syndications. Our team maintains active relationships with a broad universe of real estate clients, and has a strong track record of success in the public and private markets. As of May 2017, the platform is ranked #1 in commercial real estate lending, preferred equity, M&A and high-grade debt as well as #2 in REIT public equity and loan syndication.

Full-time Associate Opportunities
Based on outstanding performance, summer associates may receive an offer to join the Investment Banking Associate Program upon receiving an MBA. Prior to joining a business unit on a full-time basis, associates participate in an eight week, comprehensive training program in Charlotte. The training brings together all the associates from various lines of business and includes classroom instruction in financial accounting, cash flow, credit analysis, financial modeling, valuation as well as preparation for the Series 79 and 63 license exams. Wells Fargo professionals and consultants with special expertise in their fields equip associates with the skills, knowledge and tools to make an immediate contribution to their team. Associates will also receive on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and feedback throughout their tenure.

As active team members in a focused industry or product group, associates help orchestrate capital raising and strategic advisory transactions. Associates assume significant responsibility that may include:

  • Developing and maintaining models to depict projected financial results and to value companies

  • Supporting various financial analyses, including valuations and merger consequences

  • Performing comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research

  • Preparing presentations and other materials for clients

  • Conducting research, participating in strategic planning and assisting in the execution of advisory services

  • Participating in client meetings, due diligence visits, and other client interactions to gain exposure to key executives and senior bankers

  • Developing and mentoring junior talent
