The Writer / Editor is responsible for the planning and execution of content assets and related tasks for UnitedHealthcare. You’ll work within the Medicare & Retirement (M&R) business to develop content that drives engagement from consumers / prospective members and drives business objectives. From charting a course for M&R editorial planning to developing content and overseeing the review process, you’ll truly be at center of content creation for M&R.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Help facilitate the full content lifecycle within M&R, from editorial planning to publishing. This would include, but not be limited to, writing, editing and securing approvals for content.
  • Ask effective questions and carefully listen to gather and translate information that will drive creation of clear communications.
  • Write / edit content that effectively address relevant business priorities (e.g., Medicare education, member acquisition, product / program highlights, etc.)
  • Write / edit content that is aligned with applicable audience/stakeholder needs (e.g., health literacy, wellness / healthy lifestyle, prospect / member engagement, etc.)
  • Write / edit communications that are clear, simple, engaging, error - free, and grammatically correct.
  • Adhere to applicable internal guidelines and requirements (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Clinical, Human Capital, subject matter experts, confidentiality, cost considerations).
  • Adhere to applicable external / governmental guidelines and requirements (e.g., legal, regulatory [CMS]).
  • Work with M&R external communications team to evaluate ongoing and long-term opportunities in content, including repurposing across channels and ways to expand reach of content efforts.
  • Proactively build effective relationships and positive communication with business colleagues to develop content that drives brand awareness and engagement.
  • Champion UnitedHealthcare brand standards and voice in all communications.
  • Understand business dynamics, cycles, products and marketing initiatives and help identify, prioritize and execute content initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Strong command of AP (Associated Press) Style 
  • Must be able to proof - read and copy - edit the work of others
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations or higher
  • Agency and health care experience preferred
  • Understanding of complex, policy - driven health care topics
  • 4+ years of communications or journalism experience preferred
 Soft Skills: 
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organization skills
